Conceptual Pieces

Conceptual pieces may still come with some touchable or viewable media, but no longer matters as much as the concept they convey!

In my aspect, I don't like to give pieces a determined interpretation,  but would rather encourage viewers to figure out something by themselves. In other words, I'd like to make art that act as an inspirator, a beginning to any type of brainstorming.

This project contains 20 pieces of fake "evidence" from a variety of fields including education, economy, scientific researches, and even crimes and politics.

Final Form of a Pet Anxiety Monitor ---- MeHa

"It’s 2036. Being a scholar interested in the history of company “MeHa” and its mental illness detecting technique, I collected information from Newspapers/ magazines/ scientific reports etc. that reflect how this company and the society interact."

It's one of the pieces I personally love most!!!

On one side this is a piece inspired by the shocking suicide/depression rate of Chinese teenagers. On the other hand, I believe in the saying that "history repeats itself", so with this made-up company I tried to reflect (or ironize) those actual events happening these years.

Fix

For “fixing” I thought of artificial organs. It enables us to “fix” human beings as if fixing cars and machines----- if any part is broken or worn out, replace it with a nice-functioning, artificial one. As the carbon-based body was gradually transformed into silicon-based, by material level, through numerous “fixing” events, should it, or up to which specific point should it, still be considered a human? Or if one day an artificial host is able to replace the most “human” organ, brain, and technically makes eternal life possible, should we still recognize it as “life”?

Hear This Cry from Far Away

A piece for future people.

Proposal for: a gigantic baby head sculpture covered and tied up by plastic waste (“white pollutant”), to be unveiled when the plastic cover decay thousands years later.

[Note: the actual craft will have much thicker, messier, nontransparent layer of plastic trash.]

Through the extremely slow unveiling (decomposition of plastic covering) viewer will be impressed by how long it takes for earth to digest the white pollution human produced. The suffocated crying baby would be a metaphor of how the earth and its ecosystem is struggling to survive. (Marine and land animals suffocated/trapped by plastic waste)

Death Collection

A collection of bio-art sculptures using bones, nails and dry flowers. All indicating different notions related to "death".
